KAY Jewelers’ High Jewelry Gallery Boutique

Objective

Create a high-end digital experience for Kay Jewelers’ premium-priced pieces. Marketing requested a way to visually separate these exquisite works of jewelry art from the rest of the assortment.

Solution

I led the planning and development of a shoppable gallery that elevated the presentation through macro photography and video, highlighting delicate details uncovered in market research. I provided design mockups, wireframes, and direction for the visual approach before launch.

On the technical side, I developed a custom solution that enabled direct add-to-cart functionality from the gallery itself (a first for KAY's site). Using a mix of lightbox, jQuery, and existing CMS logic (SmartEdit), I built a seamless shopping flow that preserved performance while creating an experience distinct from standard product landing pages.

Results

Launched a first-of-its-kind High Jewelry Gallery that validated demand for premium-priced pieces online. The boutique experience drew 88,897 visits and generated over $326,105 in early revenue, establishing a new channel for elevated storytelling and sales.

Reflection

Pairing elevated visual storytelling with a bespoke shopping solution proved impactful. This project showed how thoughtful design and smart technical problem-solving can transform limitations into opportunities, creating an experience worthy of the product it represents.
